Alliterative poetry
I was unable to attend Bardic Madness this year, so I held a bardic madness pity party bardic circle instead. Several of us completed a variety of challenges. This was my attempt at alliterative poetry:

It's not even 11:00 p.m. the night before I leave for Pennsic, and I'm completely packed. I don't think this has ever happened before.

Haikus on the subject of rain and sun
The sun, not the moon,
It shines down on us this day
Until comes the rain.

We lament the rain
for we forget the rainbow
that the rains do bring.

I wrote this because
I saw a double rainbow
While traveling here.

New Year's resolution
My New Year's resolution this year is to post to LiveJournal at least once a week. It may be to this account, or it may be to kateryndraper.

I've made no secret about preferring LJ to Facebook and Google+. In part, it's due to privacy issues. LiveJournal allows us to use pseudonyms, so I may talk freely about politics and religion without worrying that it will cost me my job. And unlike Facebook and to a lesser extent Google+, I control who sees what. No one will know I attend an event unless I announce it, and my comments on others' lj posts don't automatically appear to my friends unless they also read the original post.

Beyond that, however, I feel LiveJournal does a better job fostering communication. It not only encourages me to write, conversations tend to be deeper than one sentence responses. There seems to be more give and take, and less sound bites.

Don't get me wrong. Facebook and Google+ have their uses. For me, though, LiveJournal will always be my social networking home.

Gorsedd Bardic Challenge
As some of you know, I helped to develop the Gorsedd Bardic Challenge: http://no-gorsedd.com/challenge/

Here's how I'm doing so far:

King Arthur and the Round Table (from Roman de Brut, by Wace)
The Two Lovers (Marie de France)- Story and poem
The Werewolf (from Marie de France)

Éiníní (Irish lullaby)

original poem
The Table Round

physical performance
Dancing around the bonfire at Bardic Madness

This means I've achieved level one, and am one piece short for level two.

Current Music: Éiníní

The Table Round (a poem I wrote for a Bardic Madness challenge)
Arthur was new to his power,
Obeyed in field and bower,
Although not in his own tower,
For his finest knights
Delighted in fights,
His knights who refused to cower.
