My New Year's resolution this year is to post to LiveJournal at least once a week. It may be to this account, or it may be to kateryndraper
I've made no secret about preferring LJ to Facebook and Google+. In part, it's due to privacy issues. LiveJournal allows us to use pseudonyms, so I may talk freely about politics and religion without worrying that it will cost me my job. And unlike Facebook and to a lesser extent Google+, I control who sees what. No one will know I attend an event unless I announce it, and my comments on others' lj posts don't automatically appear to my friends unless they also read the original post.
Beyond that, however, I feel LiveJournal does a better job fostering communication. It not only encourages me to write, conversations tend to be deeper than one sentence responses. There seems to be more give and take, and less sound bites.
Don't get me wrong. Facebook and Google+ have their uses. For me, though, LiveJournal will always be my social networking home.
